Non-Community countries ban the import and export of scrap metal trade
The East African Community Member States of Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania, the Government decided to ban the import and export trade in scrap metal.
According to Ugandan Minister of energy and mines, Daoudi? Migaileike said Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania cables and transformers and other materials constantly stolen, connecting Kampala, Uganda and Kenya railway between the port city of Mombasa were often murdered, has repeatedly stolen tracks along with a variety of metal parts. Survey found that many of these materials were stolen as scrap metal exports.
